SNHU President Lisa Marsh Ryerson joined the SNHU GEM community to discuss international education and answer questions.

To celebrate Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU)’s International Education Week, SNHU President Lisa Marsh Ryerson and SNHU’s Global Education Movement (SNHU GEM) Executive Director Rachael Sears sat down to discuss the importance of international education at SNHU and beyond.

Over 700 members of the SNHU GEM community attended the webinar, and SNHU GEM sites held watch parties where learners gathered to hear President Ryerson and Rachael discuss SNHU’s work in international and refugee education, share their hopes for the future of refugee education, and answer questions from learners and alumni.

“At SNHU, our commitment to international education is a commitment to serving the whole person, wherever they are,” President Ryerson said. “It offers an opportunity for each of us to develop more understanding about nations, society, people, and cultures – and it helps us be better informed citizens.”

Through SNHU’s global initiatives, including SNHU GEM, learners from across the globe can access higher education and pathways to meaningful employment and self-determination. For refugee learners, these opportunities can be transformative. For SNHU GEM learners, as they earn their degrees they transform not only their own lives, but the lives of their communities.

And SNHU GEM’s impact will continue in the years ahead. “The upcoming years are going to be really exciting – with additional ways to serve refugee learners around the world,” Rachael said.

Earlier this year, SNHU GEM committed to enrolling 5,000 learners at the UNHCR Global Refugee Forum and joined forces with leading universities in Africa, Europe, and North America to form the Global University Academy (GUA). These initiatives will allow SNHU to reach more refugee learners around the world with high-quality degree programs so that they can live brighter, more secure lives.
