In a letter to the SNHU GEM community, President Ryerson shares three facts you might not know about SNHU’s President.
SNHU President Lisa Marsh Ryerson wrote to SNHU’s Global Education Movement (SNHU GEM) community to introduce herself to learners and express her excitement about the work of SNHU GEM. Read her letter below.
Hello SNHU GEM community!
As I settle into my first 100 days as SNHU’s President, I wanted to officially introduce myself to SNHU GEM’s learners, alumni, and partners.
While I’m not new to SNHU – I served as Provost for the past two years and have been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2016 – I wanted to express how honored I am to be your President. I love this university and its students. Here are a few things you may not know about me.
I’m an educator to my core. I have taught in middle schools, worked in college admissions, and served as the President of a liberal arts college. I was a first-generation college student, so I know firsthand that a university education can be life changing for learners and families.
I believe that education is linked to healthier lives. Earning a degree can unlock meaningful employment and a lifetime of economic opportunity. Increasing access to higher education can help millions more learners – including displaced and refugee learners – find meaningful work and brighter, more secure lives.
As President of SNHU, my top priority is putting learners first. SNHU has always looked to learners to show us the way forward, and I am continually inspired by your persistence and dedication. I plan to continue this work on behalf of our learners around the globe, building on our strong foundation to ensure that every learner receives the high-quality education they deserve.
Rachael and I are planning a number of engagements with the SNHU GEM community in the next year – stay tuned for more details on how to join us.
I look forward to speaking with you soon!
Sincerely,
SNHU President
